Hello Ecclesiasticals!
I come to you from my annual leave. In short, I needed a break as it’s been a busy ol’ month. Last week was Oxford Literary Festival. Thanks to all who came to the sell-out event! I always love visiting Oxford; just a shame that this time the heavens opened.
This week, however, is one for rest and recuperation—and thus I come to you from my annual leave. But it’s also going to be about lots of work as I’m desperately trying to make headway on the next book. No rest for the wicked!
Of course, as we gear up to holy week, please have a look through my archive as I have posted many times about Easter and the wonderful traditions surrounding it, including their origins and history. So, with that in mind, I thought we would change things up this week. I've had many ask me which are my favourite medieval sites and, if one is not from the UK, where should one visit to experience the real Middle Ages. Your wish is my command. Here are my favourites:
